In 1939, Fats Waller made a triumphal tour in England. On June 1939, he recorded in London his exquisite “London Suite”, describing several districts this town in 6 compositions, from the up-tempo playing of Piccadilly to the very poetic Chelsea.
According to Ed Kirkeby (Fats' Manager), the enteire London Suite has been composed and recorded within an hour. However, these pieces have a unique charm in the pianist repertory.
